Accessibility Writing Specialist
Your New Company
A leading technical company.
While working within a multidisciplinary and virtual team structure you will produce accessibility assets required to support videos. All assignments must be completed to the highest of standards while following set processes.
Provide technical editing and E-learning content publishing, including developmental editing and copy editing.
Write the Audio description text for video products
Generate audio files to support audio description text using proprietary toolsets
Create transcripts, amalgamating caption text and audio description text, to provide a text-only experience for learners
Solid experience producing HTML-based courseware assets to required accessibility standards
Work with internal or external SMEs to ensure all content is technically accurate, focused, and pitched appropriately for the target audience
Create and edit existing standards and provide training to team members on content writing standards
Ensure that the text in all deliverables has been thoroughly proofread and meets standards
Work with reviewers to implement edits and to resolve cited issues expeditiously
Complete high quality deliverables in accordance with agreed schedules
Participate in team meetings, workshops, and training sessions as required
Collaborate in the maintenance of standards documents
Desired Skills and Experience
Accessibility writing experience (Alternative text, audio description, closed captioning, etc.) is highly advantageous
Experience as a professional writer.
Excellent technical editing and writing skills
Experience with maintaining editorial style guides and similar standards documents
Professional experience in a training, teaching, editorial, or review role, preferably related to E-learning (designing, editing, writing, developing, etc.), virtual classroom training, or instructor-led training is highly advantageous
Excellent English writing, message design, and communication skills are a must as well as strong listening and observation skills
An ability to adhere to aggressive schedules, handle overlapping tasks and meet deadlines without sacrificing product quality is also critical
Experience working in a virtual team and/or with remote partners is highly desirable
An ability to think visually and express those visuals in words; familiarity with graphic design elements appropriate for E-learning is a bonus
An ability to work independently, as well as within teams
Comfortable working in a fast paced, high volume, schedule-driven environment is a must
Excellent organizing skills with high attention to detail
Must be PC and MS Windows-literate; browser savvy; have a working knowledge of other computer utilities and tools
Quick learner with a high level of technical competence (ability to quickly and efficiently master proprietary and off-the-shelf systems, tools, and processes) required
Experience editing technical training material is beneficial
