• Is a Design Strategist and Product Architect.
• Has a hard-core background in business and economics. That background drives him to create products that meet his client’s ultimate business goals.
• Has worked on and directed all aspects of product development from industrial, brand, packaging, and user-interface design, to hardware and software development.
• Has worked in fashion, mobile, web, military, medical, consumer and industrial.
• Is a true generalist capable of directing a team to create a product-experience that is consistent, coherent, cohesive, and on brand.
• Has worked with some of the best industrial and interface designers in the world.
• Has quietly consulted for over 15 years exclusively at the executive level for large corporations and venture-capital backed start-ups alike.
• Has held Director level positions at a NASDAQ listed company and a venture-capital backed start-up that was acquired by a leading software company.
• Personal references include current and past vice-presidents of Apple, MTV, and Motorola.
• Is now looking to transition his virtual team into a small “special ops” team of the most elite consultants.
You:
• Will be the first full-time member of that elite team.
• Are in that top 1%. Not top 10%.
• Are an outstanding designer, capable of creating unique products that resonate with, and set the tone for, your client’s company.
• Have extreme proficiency with modeling tools, capable of producing photo-realistic renderings. At the same time, you are capable of using traditional mediums.
• Have an excellent sense of brand and graphic design, and know how to use the tools to express your visions.
• Have the portfolio to prove it.
• Are a true right/left brained individual, extremely creative while being organized, on time, and diligent.
• Have strong communication skills and an excellent command of the English language.
• Have outstanding references.
• Realize that product development, in its optimal form, is akin to film production, and given enough time and experience you want to be the Director.
• Want to gain the skills that Mr. K. has.
• Yearn to learn and work on all aspects of product development, initially focused on industrial design, user-experience design, brand and packaging.
• You, are a generalist.
Specific Skills
• 0-3+ years experience
• A design degree
• Self motivated, self managing
• Organized
• Advanced 3D skills (e.g. Rhino, Solidworks, etc.)
• Advanced 2D skills via Illustrator and Photoshop
• Working knowledge of Powerpoint and InDesign, and Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of current manufacturing techniques including co-molding, thixomolding, sintering, etc.
• Strong storytelling skills
• Note, position starts January 2010
