Our in-house design team is responsible for collaborating with other business functions and for developing new products from initial concept through product approval. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Develop product criteria by analyzing user needs and requirements for each new product or program.
2. Establish deadlines for all phases of new product design to support the key launch dates established for new product introductions.
3. Conduct product and competitive research as well as user testing of existing products or prototypes.
4. Complete CAD files and product specifications for tooling/manufacturing.
5. Attend tradeshows and frequent market-shopping trips to study product trends and assortments to recommend new product or program opportunities.
6. Initiate series of new products based upon trends and working knowledge of appropriate product categories.
7. Provide recommendations for product changes, enhancements or modifications that result in lowered tooling and manufacturing costs or effective utilization of the Company's existing tooling, products and programs.
Specific Skills
Requirements:
1. Team collaboration and ability to conceptualize and communicate ideas
2. Strong 3D CAD and form-development skills as well as sketching and presentation skills
3. Knowledge of materials and production processes related to products in this category
4. Creative thinking & problem-solving ability with a keen interest for kitchen and housewares products
5. Accountability for project timelines at each phase of the development process
6. Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or equivalent related experience
7. Five (5) years experience in related product design and development field
